I try to digitally preserve images that most would not want, in hopes that someday individuals researching their relatives may find family in this collection. *If you would like to use any of the images from my collection please contact me. I am very open to them being used in art projects and for educational purposes, but I would like to be asked first. *Even though this is probably obvious, I should state somewhere that none of the work I've posted is my own. They are all found original antique photographs that I personally own. They were all created anywhere from 90 to 150 years ago. All of these images were taken by photographers who probably have not been with us for quite some time. If I ever have a photographer's name, which I rarely do, I will list it with the image. A bit of background: I started collecting tintypes while I was in college. My History of Photography professor brought her collection into our class. I was fascinated and found myself pouring over every little detail in the images. The texture of their hands and face, their expression, the jewelry and clothes they were wearing, the back drops...you name it, I was hooked immediately. I started out buying tintypes at flea markets and antique stores. I soon discovered Ebay and went a bit haywire for awhile there and tried to adopt them all. On several occasions I would wind up with 20 tintypes even though I only really wanted 1 out of the entire lot. Of course I would never get rid of any of them - regardless of the condition. How could I!! These could be whole families I would be separating! Because of this unfortunate hangup my collection now numbers over 1,000 and is still growing. I officially banned myself from Ebay a few years ago but I still do occasionally find a treasure now and then that I can't resist. It is a domain having .com extension.
