The European Union is an alliance between 28 States in Europe that is based mainly on a political and economic agenda. These states have a standardized system of laws that govern them. The European Union enforces the policies that create an equal playing field for the 28 states and their residents when it comes to the movement of people, goods, services, and capital. The European Union also has something called secession law that varies between the different states of the European Union. If two states have a disagreement because each state's secession law is slightly different the European Union will decide which state's law will be applied and enforced. The old leadership of the European Commission had the power to stop mergers between companies just because of their preference and not with any facts that a merger would harm the people or economy. The new policies will be good for the people in the different European Union countries because these changes will force companies to do more hiring within their regions.
